AENA has awarded the SAMPOL-MAB joint venture the work of adaptation and renovation of the pavements of the taxiways S and T, of the Ramp 2 platform at the Josep Tarradellas Airport of Barcelona – El Prat.
The following actions will be carried out:
- Improvement of longitudinal and transversal slopes.
- Adequacy of obstacles found in the strips.
- Adequacy of the aid system with the change from halogen to LED technology, for greater energy efficiency.
- Replacement of the primary circuits in the area of action and channeling of these by a new pipe bank that will run through the islands between S and T.
- Construction of a new taxiway between S and T called DN.
- Widening of several taxiways and their margins to comply with current regulations.
More than 250 beacon circuits will be affected, more than 1,000 km of wiring will be laid and around 2,500 LED lights will be installed.
The complexity of the project at the operational level, due to its location and the works involved, makes it necessary to divide it into a total of 64 phases, in order to minimize its impact on airport operations and the operational risks associated with the presence of works in the airport movement area.
This project is scheduled to begin in the next few months, with a completion period of 24 months.
