OPS sampol

OPS - Onshore Power Suply

Another area of expertise for SAMPOL Group is in ports. The company is working on OPS (Onshore Power Supply), also known as COLD IRONING, which involves connecting ships docked at the port to the general electrical grid.

This enables the ships to turn off their auxiliary engines, which would otherwise be used to generate the required energy for onboard needs.

OPS is an alternative to burning fuel and meets the European Union’s goal that at least 10% of the energy consumed in the transport sector comes from renewable sources.
