90 YEARS OF PASSION FOR INNOVATION
Its founder, José Sampol, father of our esteemed President Gabriel Sampol, who passed away in June 2023, and grandfather of the current shareholders – Carmen, José Luis, Juan Carlos and Fernando Sampol – started in 1934 with a small electrical installation workshop on Calle Carmen in Palma de Mallorca. Over the years, we have grown into a global benchmark in applied engineering and infrastructure in the fields of energy, digitalisation and electromechanical installations within the hospitality, transport and industrial sectors.
With an innovative and forward-thinking spirit, Don José Sampol placed his bet on energy, planting the seed from which today’s multinational Sampol Group has grown. The generational transition came in 1967 with Don Gabriel, who expanded the company through his business acumen, diversification strategy, strong leadership, entrepreneurial drive, resilience and unwavering dedication. He spearheaded the company’s internationalisation in the 1990s, working alongside Mallorcan hoteliers – an essential milestone in shaping the group we are today.
In 2000, Carmen Sampol was appointed CEO, and since then, she has solidified the company’s leadership, making SAMPOL’s transition into the third generation a smooth one. Quality – defined as the commitment to doing things right – is embedded in our DNA, driving us to innovate and evolve continuously.
At SAMPOL, we are pioneers in innovation, hybrid renewable energy and digitalisation. We are committed to the development of our clients, efficiency, energy transition and our strong presence in the Americas. The trust of our clients and suppliers, earned through hard work and loyalty, is at the core of our success.
Today, we have an outstanding asset: a team of over 350 engineers across various specialisations and a dedicated workforce of more than 1,600 people. The incredible team that makes up SAMPOL has been, is and always will be the key to our company’s success.
SAMPOL IS INNOVATION
SAMPOL begins its activity as CASA SAMPOL, founded by José Sampol Arbona.
With the rise of mass tourism in Spain, particularly in the Balearic Islands, SAMPOL becomes a key player in the Mallorcan hospitality and industrial sectors.
Expansion across Spain, opening branches in major cities alongside the hospitality sector. SAMPOL enters the airport industry, participating in projects across almost all Spanish airports.
First international expansion into the Caribbean, leveraging its reputation in the hospitality sector. New subsidiaries are opened in Playa del Carmen (Mexico), Panama and Jamaica. In Spain, SAMPOL becomes a leading reference in airport lighting systems.
SAMPOL grows and diversifies, expanding its expertise in energy systems, electromechanical installations, telecommunications and control systems. The company also expands geographically into other European, Central American and African countries. Carmen Sampol is appointed CEO, and Gabriel Sampol becomes President of the SAMPOL Group.
SAMPOL wins the contract for the construction and maintenance of the cogeneration plant at Terminal 4 of Madrid-Barajas Airport, solidifying its position as a leader in energy solutions in Europe.
SAMPOL extends its reach with new branches in Mexico City, Puerto Rico and Vancouver (Canada), targeting the North American and Latin American markets and expanding its expertise beyond the Caribbean and into a broader range of sectors. In 2019, SAMPOL issues a bond on the Alternative Fixed-Income Market.
The company registers a promissory note programme on the MARF. SAMPOL continues its expansion in Latin America with projects in Honduras, Peru, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and more, operating in a total of 22 countries. Additionally, a new branch is opened in Aruba.
Gabriel Sampol, President of the SAMPOL Group, passes away. Currently, Carmen Sampol leads the company as CEO and Sole Administrator, working alongside her siblings and the executive team.
