SAMPOL has completed the project for the electrical supply to the ships in the Muelle Grande of the Port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Ships berthed at the dock can now connect to the electrical grid and turn of their engines, reducing pollutant emissions and noise generated by the ship’s auxiliary engines while in port.
SAMPOL has carried out in this project, for the Port Authority of Las Palmas, the general design phase of the system, analysis and detailed especification of the characteristics of the civil works and eletromechanical equipment, the civil works and structure construction phase, the deployment and installation of electromechanical equipment for OPS operations and the implementation and comissioning phase consisting of directly connecting the ship to the shore power grid.
In toal, SAMPOL has electrified the dock with eight 150 kW charging outlets.
In this way, the Port of Las Palmas already has two fullt electrified docks and thus contributes to the decarbonzqation strategy of the ports and the Spanish Maritiimme Strategy 2025 – 2050 to contribute to the energy transition of the maritime sector.
