We have successfully secured a major technological project for SAMPOL. AENA has selected us, in a joint venture (UTE) with two other companies, to update 352 control systems, including energy, lighting, terminal installations and ABHS systems.
The UTE, composed of SAMPOL, Elecnor and Getronics (with nearly equal shares of 32%, 32% and 36%, respectively), represents a significant challenge due to its scope across almost the entire AENA network. A total of 47 out of 49 airports will undergo control system upgrades to comply with AENA’s new SCADA regulations.
The primary objective is to establish control system typologies that enhance cybersecurity. To achieve this, the project includes upgrading servers, operating systems, software licences and programming to the latest available versions and creating segmented networks for each service. Installing specialised software to assess system vulnerability is another crucial component of this project.
Additionally, the project requires updating operating system licences, antivirus software and existing licences, a critical aspect of the system upgrade. Among the 352 existing systems, 87 are proprietary, necessitating new software developments to align them with AENA’s SCADA regulations, which standardise monitoring software using AVEVA System Platform as the standard solution. SAMPOL currently holds the highest certification level for this tool.
The project will be executed in two phases: an implementation phase taking two years and a maintenance and support phase lasting three years to provide ongoing system management and assistance for AENA personnel.
