SAMPOL sponsors Paralympic athlete Úrsula Pueyo

SAMPOL patrocina a Úrsula Pueyo
May 17, 2024

For another year, SAMPOL continues its support for Úrsula Pueyo (Esporles, 1983), a highly accomplished Paralympic athlete, as she prepares for her upcoming sporting challenges.

Úrsula was the first athlete from the Balearic Islands to compete in the Winter Paralympic Games (Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014), where she was Spain’s flag bearer and a multi-time champion in adaptive skiing. Most recently, she competed in the World Paralympic Canoe Championships in Hungary, where she aimed to secure a place in the Paris Paralympic Games but narrowly missed out on the required first or second place finish in the final.

Over the past few months, despite facing some health challenges, Úrsula has dedicated herself exclusively to paracanoe training and preparation.

Her relentless resilience and determination have continued to bring her success. One of her latest achievements took place in November, when she finished fourth in the World Parasurfing Championship in Huntington Beach, California – an impressive debut in the Stand Up category. Prior to that, she dominated three challenges in the Spanish Parasurfing Cup, becoming the overall champion in her category at Playa de Patos in Galicia, in the Vigo Ria esturary, home to Spain’s most prestigious Adaptive Surfing Championship.

Now back home and visiting SAMPOL, Úrsula shared her next goals: competing in the Spanish Cup in Seville next week, followed by the European Championships on 13 June, both in canoeing. She remains fully committed to her three passions – skiing, canoeing and surfing – as she continues to compete at national, European and global levels.

This sponsorship aligns with SAMPOL’s social action strategy, which coordinates the company’s efforts to maximise its impact on society. SAMPOL aims to support the socio-economic development of the communities where it operates, through initiatives such as local job creation, workplace integration for people at risk of social exclusion, donations to non-profit organisations and sponsorships in the fields of health, culture and education.

At the sponsorship event, held at SAMPOL’s headquarters in Palma, Úrsula Pueyo was joined by Carmen Sampol, CEO of Sampol Group, and Yolanda Rodríguez, Head of Management Systems.
