SAMPOL ejecuta la nueva torre de telecomunicaciones de Ibiza
February 10, 2025

SAMPOL has completed work on the new telecommunications tower in Sant Joan, Ibiza. The tower, part of the IB Digital plan (Balearic Agency for Digitalisation, Cybersecurity and Telecommunications), will significantly enhance the coverage of the emergency communications network (TetraIB) as well as the regional government’s sensor network (IoTIB) in the north of the island.

One of the main objectives of this new tower is to strengthen Ibiza’s emergency services communications network. Currently, the island has a coverage rate of 70%, the lowest in the archipelago, but with the installation of the new towers, coverage is expected to reach 89%, bringing it in line with the other islands.

While construction of the tower is now complete, electrification work will take place over the next few months and is expected to be finalised within three months. Once the electrical network and meters are installed, the communication antennas will be fitted. The tower is expected to be fully operational within four to five months, just in time for the peak summer season.

On 5 February, the infrastructure was officially presented, with Vicente Torres, ITELNOC & Onsite Engineering EMEA Manager, attending on behalf of SAMPOL.
