SON MAGRANER AND SON RIPOLLET. FV PARKS PIONEERS IN MALLORCA WITH ENERGY STORAGE.

The pioneering photovoltaic parks Son Magraner 4.55 MWp and Son Ripollet 10.22 MWp, located near the urban center of Son Espanyolet, are projects promoted and designed by SAMPOL and will become the flagship of the company’s commitment to photovoltaic energy.

These projects participate in the first call for aid for electricity generation facilities from renewable sources in the Balearic Islands, included in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-NextGenerationEU.

We are the forerunners in Mallorca as it is accompanied by a storage system based on lithium batteries, known as BESS systems (Battery Energy Storage System). The Son Magraner photovoltaic park will have a BESS of 1.8 MVA of power and a storage capacity of 3.6 MWh and the Son Ripollet park will install a BESS of 4.08 MVA of power, with a storage capacity of 8.18 MWh.

This capacity makes it possible to decouple photovoltaic production from grid injection and thus better meet the electricity demand of the island system, contributing to the improvement of system efficiency and favoring a reduction in electricity costs for the benefit of all Balearic citizens.

Both projects have been designed with the utmost respect for the environmental impact, with specific measures, such as the vegetation barrier installed around the perimeter, which significantly reduces the visual impact of the park. In short, these parks will avoid the emission of more than 300,000 tons of CO2 over their more than 25 years of useful life.

The infrastructure of this project is developed based on economic criteria to optimize resources; technical criteria maintaining the focus on technological innovation; including gender and social policies in a transversal manner; considering citizen participation; contributing positively and becoming a dynamic element of the industrial fabric and local employment in Mallorca.

The know-how acquired in the design, construction and operation of these parks will allow SAMPOL to position itself as a reference in photovoltaic energy installations, the largest project in the Balearic Islands.
