20-YEAR CONCESSION FOR COGENERATION PLANT

Description: Dual power plant that provides electricity, heating and cooling to supply the energy demand of the T4 terminal (470,000 m2) and T4-S (315,000 m2) of Madrid Barajas, the largest airport in Spain and the 6th largest in Europe. The distribution of heat and cold is done through a district network. The plant has the capacity to work as an island in critical circumstances

  • Airport Capacity: 70 millions passengers/year
  • New Capacity T4: 35 millions passengers/year.
  • Demand: 27 MW.
  • Air Conditioning Systems, Areas:
    • T4: 47.000 m2.
    • T4-S: 28.000 m2.

 

ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION

  • 6 x 5,500 kWe dual Wartsila motor-generators
    (Natural Gas / Diesel): 33,000 kWe.

 

SUPERHEATED WATER PRODUCTION (6 BARG, 117 °C)

  • 6 x high temperature circuit heat exchangers: 8,400 kWt.
  • 6 x exhaust gas recovery boilers: 25,200 kWt.

TOTAL HEAT GENERATION: 33.600 kWt.

 

CHILLED WATER PRODUCTION (6.5 °C)

  • 6 x 3,300 kWf single-stage absorption chillers (LiBr).
  • 6 centrifugal chillers, 3,300 kWf.
  • 6 “back-to-back” hybrid cooling towers in series.

TOTAL COOLING GENERATION: 33.600 kWt.
