This project, developed in partnership with Grupo Elecnor, included the construction of a new power plant, runway lighting, the fire station and the airport’s control tower, ensuring the operation of this strategic infrastructure in the Republic of Honduras.
Formerly a military base, Palmerola Airport has been transformed into a modern international airport for both civilian and military use, serving as a key entry point to the country and its capital, Tegucigalpa. Located 6 kilometres from the city of Comayagua and 85 kilometres from Tegucigalpa, this new infrastructure aims to enhance air traffic safety and stimulate growth in the country’s aviation sector.
At SAMPOL, this project has allowed us to bring our expertise and know-how to Honduras, expanding our international presence into a new country and delivering another airport infrastructure project beyond our borders.
